In a small village where everyone knows everyone, and generations overlap like old photographs, there was a man who grew pumpkins. Not just any pumpkins - prize-winning pumpkins, the kind that made the whole village stop and stare. When he passed, they placed his greatest pumpkin on his grave. A fitting tribute. A final honour.

Nobody expected what came next.

At midnight on Halloween, something stirred beneath the earth. Half-decomposed, restless, reacting to the pumpkin above - the two began to merge. Flesh and rind. Muscle and pulp. Dripping and reforming into something entirely new. A being that was neither man nor vegetable, but something the village had no name for.
